Be all you can be
To some degree, this opening and expanding happens of its own accord, but it is better to engage with it consciously for a number of very good reasons...
- If we have spent much time in pain of any kind, it is normal for us to focus on it and on our attempts to deal with it. We can get used to having the pain - it becomes our normality and we can be simply unaware of the opening possibilities that accompany healing.
- We are creatures of habit and live much of our lives on autopilot. There is a degree of ease in staying with what we know; if fact, it can take a lot of awareness to be and to do in a new and different way.
- It's not widely recognised just how much we cling to what we know (even if it is unhealthy or even toxic) simply out of a deep and unacknowledged fear of the unknown.
In practice, it can be quite easy to ignore what might be quite subtle impulses to grow back into life - to be in new ways, to do in new ways. If we are aware of these gentle urges of the spirit and have the courage to respond to them, there is great reward - our soul is coming back into life and we feel exhilarated, empowered and have a greater sense of who we really are. But it is easy to ignore these gentle promptings and there is much value in having the encouragement and support of another on this part of the journey as much as on any other.
